The Art of Spring



Skunk Cabbage - or also known as Symplocarpus foetidus. It is one of the first signs of warm weather and the passing of winter. Each plant yields it's own art work, and tells us where the wet soils are. Woodlands will begin to bubble with life and these plants work their way up through the soil. A great indicator of wetlands - pause, and examine their unique details.

Water Power - plan for drainage

During design and construction, accommodating  for groundwater, or water that infiltrates, constructed elements need a pathway for the water. The retaining wall reflects weep holes, and an underdrain already installed (behind the wall) . During excavation, conditions may be dry, but the insurance of accommodating water is a sure way to minimize problems in the future. Water is life saving, but is also a powerful force that requires respect.
